Job Purpose
The Senior Coordinator, Education Programs implements the CPC’s strategies, programs and initiatives with members, partners and education/health care stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of participating in Paralympic sport, particularly amongst teachers, physicians, therapists and other key influencers of people with a disability, and illustrate how new participants can start becoming involved in sport in their community. The Senior Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of both CPC’s Education program and the Changing Minds, Changing Lives (CMCL) program. This position will play an important role in contributing to the CPC’s strategic priority of developing a sustainable, world class Paralympic sport system in Canada.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the expansion and continued implementation of CPC’s Changing Minds, Changing Lives (CMCL) program, including the expansion of this program into the Education community, in order to ensure every Canadian with a physical disability becomes aware of the benefits and opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity
- Enhance and expand CPC’s Education program, including the current on-line schools program (It’s the Real Deal), and contributing to the development of a new Paralympic Academy program, along with identifying additional opportunities for CPC to engage the Education community in promoting opportunities for students with a disability to become active participants in sport
- Support the Manager, Sport Development with recruiting new and managing existing partners, in order to enhance and expand the delivery of CPC’s Development programs and services
- Contribute to the creation and establishment of Paralympic sport development strategies, programs and initiatives to increase awareness and participation in Paralympic sport
- As a CPC representative, support the Manager, Sport Development in working with members, partners and government agencies, to plan, implement and evaluate the assigned Development programs and initiatives (may include contributing to funding applications, and managing fund allocations)
- Contribute to the creation of the CPC Development annual budget and manage the budget of specific assigned programs and initiatives
- Liaise with the CPC Communications and Marketing team to establish and implement Development communication plans for the CPC Education and CMCL programs
- Be available to support the Manager, Sport Development in work related to the Paralympic Development Committee
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma is required, preferably in Education or Health Care
- Certification and experience in Sports Administration/Management is considered an asset
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian education and/or health care systems, particularly current curriculum and professional development structures and processes
- Expertise in developing and delivering “train the trainer” programs and services
- Knowledge of sport development, long-term athlete development (LTAD) and its link to high performance (HP) programs
- Knowledge of the specific issues and barriers to getting people with disabilities active in sport and recreation
- Strong relationship and partnership building skills, establishing credibility and trust quickly
- Proficient computer skills for:
- Project planning & tracking
- Word processing
- Database management
- Presentation development
- Internet use
- Solid written, presentation and verbal English communication skills
- Strong written and verbal French communication skills is considered an asset
- Basic knowledge and skills in communications planning
Experience
- Approximately three to five years experience working within the education and/or health care fields
- Experience as a participant and/or administrator in the Paralympic and/or able-body sport systems (grass-roots programs for sport and/or LTAD)
- Experience managing budgets
- Experience working with volunteers and committees

Working Conditions
- Work is primarily in an office environment
