Melanie Davis Named Executive Director and CEO of Physical & Health Education Canada

Ottawa – November 1, 2017 –  Physical & Health Education Canada (PHE Canada) is proud to announce Melanie Davis as Executive Director and CEO effective November 27, 2017.

“Melanie Davis brings a diverse and successful background in youth-focused non-profits and community building to our already strong team of directors,” said Brian Storey, President of PHE Canada. “Through collaborative acts and thoughtful action, PHE Canada dreams of a country wherein every child leads physically active and healthy lives. Melanie’s leadership, enthusiasm, and personal vision align perfectly with our current growth and advocacy and educational efforts.”

Ms. Davis’s appointment as Executive Director and CEO of PHE Canada marks her return to the child and youth sector in Canada after successfully building SOS Children’s Villages community engagement and advocacy strategy. Prior to her years of effective work at SOS, she worked diligently on behalf of the City of Kitchener, Ottawa Youth, Family Services Ottawa, and the Nectar Centre to build child and youth friendly spaces and ensure young people have inclusive access to supports and a voice on matters that affect them. Throughout she has worked diligently as an advocate, leader, and fundraiser forwarding the missions by her leadership and business skillset gained through both experience and study in her Master's in Philanthropy & Non-profit Leadership from Carleton University.

Ms. Davis’s professional accomplishments are equally matched by her community and social involvement. As a dedicated volunteer, Davis has a long history managing children’s sports teams, helping at food banks and in classrooms, and speaking out to ensure communities are safe and inclusive.

“I am excited to join Physical & Health Education Canada at such a significant point in its growth and I look forward to working closely with the board, management, and employees of PHE Canada to build on past successes and expand the scope of PHE Canada’s educational efforts and awareness campaigns" says Ms. Davis.

Melanie begins her tenure as Executive Director and CEO on November 27, 2017. At this time she will take leadership of one of the country’s premiere organizations promoting physical activity, physical education, and health education.
