In Canada, our winter wonderland of snow, ice and cold weather provides an opportunity for a variety of activities. This resource is a collection of fun, winter physical activities that were gathered from teachers and students from across Canada.
The motivation behind these activities is to help students maintain their active lifestyles during the winter months! Snow Fun! also provides an opportunity for students to practice and learn new skills. While most of the activities are to be played outdoors, many can be adapted to be played indoors.
Categories include: scavenger, cooperative - team building, relay, tag teams, targeting, carnival and special days. Each activity outlines the description, objective, skills, age, space/location, duration, equipment, and variations. The easy to understand icons indicate if the activity can be played outdoors/indoors, if snow is needed, low/moderate/high activity, and small/medium/large groups.
Imaginations and improvisations allow these games to be played indoors if there is no snow or the day is too cold.
