Health Educator Award
What is a Health Educator?
- A health educator is someone who works collaboratively to engage all students in meaningful ways, providing equal and inclusive opportunities for everyone to explore all the dimensions of wellness. Partnerships and cooperative activities will be built with other staff, parents, health professionals and the community.
- A health educator will actively collaborate to develop and enhance safe and positive learning environments where students can gain curricular knowledge and develop lifelong learning skills supportive of wellness.
- A health educator will foster safe and healthy, social and physical environments in the school, home and community and implement policies that enable healthy active lifestyles and cultivate a place where everyone belongs.
- A health educator will collaboratively identify goals, plan for action and actively gather information to measure the effectiveness of actions to support healthy active lifestyles throughout the school community.
Our Health Educator Award honours an individual for their work to further the importance of health education in Canada and/or who has served as a champion in promoting the importance of Health Promoting Schools at the local, regional, provincial or federal level.
